IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

TRE FO: I’m originally from Oakland, California but I’ve been residing in Des Moines, Iowa for 22 years.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

TRE FO: I’ve been involved with music since I was 6 years old. I have been taking piano lessons and working in studios as a DJ since I was 14. Also I’ve had a personal studio and have been making my own music since 14. I have taught myself how to engineer and master tracks.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

TRE FO: I’ve always had a passion for music. I’ve always wanted to express myself through music, and I love being in studios either recording music or vocals.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

TRE FO: Most of my songs are about my life, unless I’m writing in perspective. I really enjoy taking a thought or issue and making it plain to see. I like when people can.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

TRE FO: My fans I would say are purists of hip-hop and true eclectics. I love all genres of music and will work with anyone who feels the same. My fans would enjoy my albums because there is something for everyone, even people that don’t listen to hip-hop on a regular basis.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

TRE FO: My main influences are Tupac, Snoop dogg, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., Ice Cube, Busta Ryhmes, Nas, Run DMC, The L.O.X., Notorius B.I.G., Scarface, Tha Dogg Pound, Rakim, KRS-One, Barry White, The Whispers, The O’jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Isacc Hayes, Luther Vandross, Micheal Jackson, New Edition, Marvin Gaye, The DRamatics, George Clinton, Roger Troutman, Zapp, and Prince to name a few. The list really could go on forever.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

TRE FO: My music has been described as real, very in your face, and inspirational. I would say I’m just living life and writing it down as I go.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

TRE FO: The reason I stand out more than most artists is because all of my music is made by me and written by me. I can also sing without the use of an auto tune. So when you hear a hook you can bet that it’s me singing those notes. Most artists can only pull a trick out of the hat while I can pull many tricks out. My stage presence is great as well. I love interacting with the crowds and getting the love and support from fans just makes me perform better than any recorded composition. Also I’m not afraid to show another artist the respect they deserve. My humility is what really makes me who I am.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

TRE FO: Currently I’m working on 3 full length albums two of which are almost complete. The first is called”B.C.I.D.” and acronym for “Brian Clark Iz Dead” and it’s my introduction to the world as Tre Fo. Basically telling how it all began. The second is titled “R.I.M.S.” an acronym for “Revenge In My Sleep” and it’s material from when I was battling cancer and couldn’t go inside studios to do work. I had to stay inside and was even hospitalized for a few weeks while I was recording the album. I had to have my guys bring me some of my equipment into the hospital room so I could make the music and when I was released I recorded most of the songs. The third album is titled “S.O.S.” an acronym for “Son of Sativa” and is about showing how far I’ve come as an artist. This project will have all new music while the other projects have some old and new music on them. It will also be the most lyrical album I have ever created.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

TRE FO: My ultimate goal is to be considered one of the best in the world. I’ve always wanted to be the best at my craft and I know I’m not the only one that wants that. I see myself in 10 years doing music and also doing more of the behind the scenes activities like promoting artists and running my label Black Gold Records and dedicating my time to my artists and giving them the push they need to succeed.
