IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
EMRICH: I come from a small town called Broadway, Virginia. It’s a town where everybody knows everybody.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
EMRICH: I grew up in a musical household. My mom does music out in Columbus, Ohio and has been chasing after her music career ever since I was a kid. Same with my uncle, he has a band out in Charlottesville, Virginia that has been doing music since I was a kid as well. I’ve always loved music, always beating on a table or book just to make a beat out of it. It will always be a huge part of my life, and I will always have an unconditional passion for music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
EMRICH: For me, writing music helps let me escape the everyday struggles of life and allows me to reach out with the world. I love seeing somebody tweet my lyrics or just simply compliment my music. I want to record music for the people.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
EMRICH: Mostly my music is about just everyday situations and how life can bring you down, but only if you let it. My music has also been said to be very inspiring to others as to how they can relate to what my lyrics talk about.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
EMRICH: I’d like to think that the age group is from 15-45 years old. That age group has really has given me the most feedback towards my tracks. I don’t mind the youngins bumpin my music, but it does contain some explicit language so listen responsibly!
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
EMRICH: My all time favorite artist is Jarren Benton from Funk Volume, He has been my biggest inspiration in the game thus far. I like artists from Strange Music such as Rittz, Tech N9ne, and Stevie Stone. I really like to think that Eminem and Yelawolf have been some big inspirations to me as far as my flow goes.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
EMRICH: To me, my music is entertaining as far as wordplay, beat choices, and flow. I’d like to think of it as inspirational and down right dirty all in one. I don’t hold anything back on the mic and I’m always speaking truth when I spit.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
EMRICH: I’m different from these other emcees simply because now a days everybody just wants to get rich and buy materialistic things instead of actually writing true words and meaning. I could care less about getting paid but don’t get me wrong, I’m no fool. If the opportunity approached me I’d be all for it but I’m not out here just trying to get rich, I’m trying to be remembered.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
EMRICH: As of now I have a few singles in the works but mostly doing features with some locals around here and some others I’ve met along the way. Recently, I dropped a mixtape over the summer called, The Movement, and have a Collaboration mixtape in the works for my label, IllestMuZic. I look forward to dropping the new projects.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
EMRICH: My goals for the industry are always expanding, you can never do enough. I want to expand my label worldwide for other underground artists struggling for a shot like I have. I’d also like to have a couple different distribution deals and own my own brand. I truly have started from the bottom and things are staring to look up so, in 10 years I hope to have accomplished my dreams of becoming this legend I’m trying so hard to become.
