Dustin Lamont Taylor better known as D.Tayls is a rap artist, singer, song writer, and producer born Sept. 4th 1986 in the city of Norfolk, VA developed a passion for music at a very young age. He started off singing in church at 4 where he won the church talent show. As time moved forward he begin exploring other artistic abilities he possessed such as drawing, painting, and writing poetry by 11. Around that same time his life almost ended in a horrific car accident but he survived because he served a greater purpose. Through out middle school he always was involved in music activities taking part in band playing the trumpet. At 16 even though he was a troubled teen he started singing in the male chorus performing and winning various school talent shows at two separate high schools. It wasn’t until he turn 17 his friend Adam Jackson encouraged Dustin to start rapping from that point on it would turn into his true passion. He developed a strong level of vocab and lyrical content. His music career was almost cut short once more over gang affiliation being involved with the street life of shark city. He overcame those obstacles to keep pushing forward with his passion creating his own style with his unique artistic abilities. His focus grew as he grew that’s when he started performing at various shows and open mics opening up for major acts such as Raekown of the Wu-tang clan. Dustin (D.Tayls) Taylor got a chance to meet Malice from The Clips who was intrigued by D.Tayl’s style and desired to work with D.Tayls on artist development. Through this he has remained independent hoping to create his own lane.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

D.TAYLS: I am from Norfolk,VA, Shark City stand up!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

D.TAYLS: My music background consists of me starting to sing at the age of four in the church. I entered talent shows and showcases throughout my early childhood years. I played the violin in 5th Grade and the trumpet in 6th Grade. After 6th grade I traded in my trumpet for a paintbrush and was invited to an Art Academy in Virginia Beach. I continued on in Advance Art classes up until the 9th grade. That is when I decided to take music seriously. All throughout high school I was in chorus and Music Theory where I learned how to read music plus play the piano. After winning most talented in school a good friend Inspired me to start rapping at the age of 17. From there I began to focus more on rhyming and lyrics and the rest is history.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

D.TAYLS: The reason I want to record and release my own music is because it’s my passion to create a different sound from others. Also, I love to share the knowledge I’ve obtained through rhythmical formats. The influence of sound is so powerful. In addition to that I want to be known as one of the most influential and talented music artist to ever be recognized. Love is a major part of why I want to record and release my own music. What better way to spread love then thru sound waves and frequencies?

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

D.TAYLS: My songs are about a plethora of things from the widespread of love, knowledge, positive energy, spiritual connection, different dimensions, the universe, political views, the streets, struggle, poverty, drugs, riches, luxury, and being fully aware of this universe.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

D.TAYLS: All people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, creed, whatever. No person is left behind. Everyone can enjoy my music and my great versatility allows this to happen.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

D.TAYLS: The biggest most important influence are the Most High and the Universe. Then Some of the artist consist of Lupe Fiasco, Jay Z, Kanye, Elzhi, 2Pac, Eminem, Nas, J J Cole, Kendrick, Drake, and Future. Then other greats like MJ, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, The Whispers, OJs, Isley Brothers, Musiq Soulchild, Bruno Mars, R.Kelly and Babyface.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

D.TAYLS: My music is something refreshing to the heart, mind, and spirit. It provides you with the feeling of love. It’s new and Improved music. Something that hasn’t been heard before.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

D.TAYLS: The lyricism and versatility I’ve combine to create a voice for knowledge, love, and street awareness. On a creative level the only other artists I can be compared to is Lupe Fiasco and Tupac.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

D.TAYLS: I’ve recently completed “The Climax” and it is set to be released in late May early June so be on the lookout for that. In addition to that I’m currently writing and recording “7AGAPE”.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

D.TAYLS: Like I mentioned before my goal is to become one of the most decorated, influential, and recognized music artist of all time. I see myself winning multiple Grammys, which is my overall goal. Using my influence to better the world plus building a large brand of entrepreneurship to better myself financially. I would also like to begin an acting career, having ownership of a high-end clothing line. I also want to owna franchise of boutique clothing stores across the world. As well as contributing time and labor in assisting with creating,organizing, participating in various community services and activities.
