IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

LAS MOHICAN: I’m From Toronto, Ontario in Canada, but originally from Guyana born and raised in New Amsterdam until about the age of twenty. I migrated to Canada as a Welder Fabricator which was one of my trades at the time.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

LAS MOHICAN: I’m a singer songwriter. I started at a young age. My dad was a singer who went by the name of Edgar Alexander Croal Beckles. My dad and I usually would sit down and sing old songs from artist like Nat King, Ben E. King, John Holt to name a few. I also did some musical plays in school and. My grandmother was a great influence. She always took me to church every Sunday. We went to two churches on Sundays and then I had Sunday school. It was a good experience for sing.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

LAS MOHICAN: Music its the easiest way to spread or share your message. My music makes you want to sing every words or bounce to the beats. The youths of tomorrow need some form of guidance on how to be. So you find that’s the only thing most people pay attention to is music. They want to know who’s hot and who’s not.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

LAS MOHICAN: Positive, uplifting, empowering, loving, peace and joy is what I try to share in my music. Asking the people of the world to come together and unite. We can make that change if we can just see the common oneness as human being of this planet. We can live in one true harmony and peace

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

LAS MOHICAN: Most of my fans I would say are between the ages of 18 to about 46 from many different backgrounds. My music is directed to anyone who wants to listen to uplifting and positive message talking about real life issues and love. I like to think that I can be easily understood because I have not use a lot of Patwa or broke English in my songs. I have five children that listen and watch me very closely and for that reason I think anyone can listen to my music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

LAS MOHICAN: Bob Marley, David Bowie, Tina Tuna, Garnet Silk, Dennis Brown, and Jimmy Cliff just to name a few. I also listen to some rock, hip hop, and jazz. The list goes on. I should say if it’s music and it sounds good. It got me shaking my leg and nodding my head I’m like yea, let her rip. Not to mention Michael Jackson, I’m sure he touched a lot of people lives. I also listen to Eddie Grant, Lord Kitchener , The Mighty Sparrow. These are just a few of my influences.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

LAS MOHICAN: Culture Reggae tells you about the signs of the time. My music is coming from the ancestor’s time to now recreated, expressing it my way. It gives you the positive vibrations you’ve always long for, it suds’ the sole. I think it’s also a bit roots and culture with a blues kind a feel the you can tap your feet and dance to.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

LAS MOHICAN: I have a unique voice, which is not heard every day. I think the world needs people trying to bring peace among men.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?                                                                

LAS MOHICAN: I planning to release my third album this year. I have a few shows coming up. one in June and the other in July, it would be in Toronto downtown.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

LAS MOHICAN: Hopefully with my music I can change someone or even make someone’s day better when they listen to my music. If I can stop one person from killing another with my music, then I am satisfied. I want my music to cause people to care and love one another. I would like to have hits on Billboard and also win Grammys. I want to have a successful career in music as long as I can maintain and with Jah’s will and grace have number ones across the board. I know it only comes with hard work, which I’m willing to do to build an empire
