IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

JAY $ILVER: Jay$ilver hails from the NorthEast. Born in the lovely springtime season as he’s full of joy like the blossoming fields across the country, though born in the cold and rough concrete jungle of Queens, New York. Time spent between the Village, off the Ave and Hempstead intersection and in Jamaica. This was the initial 13 years of Jay$ilver’s life embedded in the big apple then he was uprooted by his mother to go down to Dallas, Texas with her for the next almost decade of his life. Now he resides in Seattle, Washington and is rising to the top from the Northwest corner of the country.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

JAY $ILVER: My musical background is quite wide! Ranging from a variety of genres to include it all except most country and death metal/scream-o music as those are not my preferences. My main influences would be 80’s Jazz to 90’s Hip-Hop and R&B, a little bit of today’s rap sprinkled in, electronica/EDM, Reggae, etc. I literally listen to it all as I have a genuine love of music. My music background lyrically would be from fellow east coast artists such as KRS-One, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest and then the greats of course 2Pac, Biggie, Michael Jackson & Prince, which RIP to those legends now making music in the sky for us.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

JAY $ILVER: I want to record and release my own music because a few things. 1- It’s good Music. Getting it back to the quality we once knew. Providing relatable, comical, lyrical, ill lyrics on nice beats with clever punchlines that will get you thinking now and later when you listen to it again years from now! 2 – They’re jammy tunes to listen to during any occasion! Partying, pre-gaming, driving, smoking, working, working out, etc!…  3 – “I DO THIS FOR HIP-HOP!”

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

JAY $ILVER: My songs are about everything in life we humans go through as they vary in topic. One would be about my journey from New York to Texas and growing up then the next can be about the struggles of homelessness in America. Then the next track is about popping bottles in a club. I spit about grinding and working hard to get what you want as it’s something within all of us and that we do every day to reach our goals. I spit about religion, how to love a woman to how to make love to a woman. I speak about hot political issues, international ones. Then just like every other artist in the industry, I can spit ignorant ish that rhymes and sounds ill. Basically, I talk about anything and everything but the one main feature a part of any song I do is that it will be real as in something I’ve gone through, had a close one go through, or that I’ve witnessed/experienced. The music must always be real folks, so when you listen to the tracks think about the story behind it all as well as listen to the lyrical bombing I do to every track!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

JAY $ILVER: I make music for anyone and everyone who chooses to hear and jam along. Whether you’ve been through it, are going through it or will go through it, you’ll relate.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your music influences?

JAY $ILVER: I listened to a variety of things as a kid from the familial influences of my brother my sister and my mom as well as other family members when roaming the Queens and Brooklyn streets to visit the Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Jay-Z, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, KRS-One, Bid Daddy Kane, Eric B. & Rakim, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 112, Destiny’s Child, LL Cool J, Aaliyah, Prince, Michael Jackson, Run DMC, TLC, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul, Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, Sweet Mickey… and much more. Then there’s been the expansion since that childhood background.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

JAY $ILVER: “My music, to me which is how I hope you all perceive it as well, is a beautiful blend of lyrical prowess combined with a heartfelt story and/or display of emotional release detailed by witty punchlines and comical references. Accented with such a confident yet fun delivery that I couldn’t understand how more haven’t heard haha.”

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

JAY $ILVER: Similar to what I just stated, my lyrical prowess in telling my tales with the bars. Bars separates me. I’ve been working on my chorus game though to make some more “jammy” tunes for the people as we need the catchy right!
