IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: what city and state are you from?
RICCI PAJE: Currently I reside in Missoula, Montana, however I am from a lot of places. I was born in Nampa, Idaho, but was raised in Orofino, Idaho. My teenage years were spent as a street kid in Spokane Washington. I found sobriety here in Montana, so the person I am today is from here, my home since 2005.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
RICCI PAJE: From my youth it has been clear to me what my destiny is. Daydreaming while listening to my aunt singing on the radio, or listening to my mother play music while I was being watched upstairs. Literally almost everyone in my bloodline is actively into music. Even still today many of us are touring artists or recording artists, songwriters etc. just doing what we love. As a young lady I would wander threw the woods and find fallen trees to sit on and wright poetry and sing. Although I am primarily a hip-hop artist, I honestly figured myself for rock or country. I have obtained a genuine blend of style and passion because of this, and a love for music that cannot be replaced.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do u want to wright and record your own music?
RICCI PAJE: For me there is no other option. I write/record/release my own music already, just not on the desired scale I have in mind. It is the way I share with the world. Artists are like spices; we need a grand variety to make our steak perfect. Even when we want a different flavor then in times past. It is not just a passion, this is my career now, and presenting to the world my own sound just feels right to me, plus its how I get people to hear my poetry.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
RICCI PAJE: Imagine for a moment how you could describe your whole life, by talking about one day, and one day only. What day would u choose? Is it even possible? Would u pick the best? Would u pick a happy day or a day of hard lessons? I believe every song, as every day, is an outcome of who we were yesterday. This is my music. These are my songs.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
RICCI PAJE: If I must publicly admit a flaw, I suppose now is the time. I haven’t been able to specifically direct to any one fan base, for I cannot choose a favorite. Growing and living such a life as I have I have learned people will always surprise you. I know 60-year-olds who love hip-hop, and 12-year-olds that love country. And also I have learned I likewise love all sorts of people, and I wright, paint, design cloths, etc. for all of us. I believe Gods talents should never be hidden, so choosing a specific fan base would mean limiting the rest. So I would have to say the entire world is my desired fan base.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
RICCI PAJE: In my personal experience, almost everyone in my life has influenced me. My whole family either performs, or serves. Both cases music is with us. There are so many moods on the radio, and so many people who play such a great roll, from Tupac to Michael Jackson. Everyday I am influenced further, inspired constantly.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
RICCI PAJE: An experience worth having. Each song has a finger print all its own, it has a blend of a lifetime of styles that have been begotten of destiny. A sound of perseverance with a message to overcome. It is not just a sound, it is my soul.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
RICCI PAJE: I believe any “true” artist will always stand out. One cannot fake talent in its entirety. One can imitate, however to create uniqueness takes talent, and usually it is something we have spent time in the past to hide, because it sets us apart from youth. We grow; face who we are, and make peace with it. Once that has happened, there is no way not to stand out. I am undecided on exactly “what” makes me stand out; I just know I do unavoidably.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are working on?
RICCI PAJE: Me, as an artist in every way. I have many projects to look forward to. I am currently working on my 4th album self released, following (track head) (salvaged)and (orah-cali) will be (the fourth leaf). I anticipate it will be my greatest collection as of yet. I have been producing some of my own beats and look forward to using more of them on this album. I write several songs a month so you have a lot coming from me. I also just got my business (DrawDawnExpressions) off the ground where I am an art vendor, performer, clothing designer, graphic designer, self publisher/vender of my cds etc. and this is to help support my music, I record my own music videos and edit them. I have new ones to be blasted threw social media soon, joining my others.so be sure to keep an eye out. Also we have many shows coming up that we will be putting on threw DrawDawn, and we all know that is definitely a project to look forward to.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do u see yourself in 10 years?
RICCI PAJE: Within 10 years I desire to be delivering music to the world on a respectable level. I need to make a great living at it as well. For a goal of mine is to completely self-fund a “life improvement apartment” where we scout out people who are on the streets and legitimately don’t desire to live that way. They will pay their rent by achieving goals to improve their situation. I have many ambitions in life, and in 10 years I see myself with brand new ones, and accomplishments under my belt.
