Growing up with a passion for music, artist Dre-B is now living his dream of making his own name in the music industry.  Andre Black, also known as Dre-B was born in Killeen, TX and raised in Summerville, GA. At the age of 13 he returned back to the Central Texas area and that’s when he started recording his own music. Dre-B bases his music on real life battles – from run Ins with the law and different struggles he has overcome. From growing up in an era where music migrated from east coast to west coast, Dre-B found himself drawn to artist such as: Tupac, Notorious BIG, T.I. and Lil Boosie.

“I like story tellers,” says Dre-B. “Each of these artist have a real story line behind their music. They communicate to their listeners a vivid outlook of the life they live and where they’ve been.”

Being inspired from these artist, Dre-B’s music reflects his lifestyle and past experiences. He hopes that his experiences, both good and bad, will touch someone going through a similar struggle; including the happiness or just the cold heart truth.

Aside from well-known artist that have inspired Dre-B – his mother’s struggles with her three boys and her continued strength to push her children is where the real motivation built from. Realizing society is not getting a whole lot better, Dre-B knows he has to build a different foundation for his two daughters.


Music isn’t just a hobby for Dre- B, but his dream and the career he is building towards. Music is a passion that he cannot live without. He is able to build a picture with lyrics that listeners can to connect to.  Dre-B feels like his large vocabulary makes the delivery and lyrical content of his music really stand out.

Like any other new artist, Dre-B faces obstacles like getting himself exposure to new listeners.

Dre-B has invested many long nights and early morning to his music to set himself apart from different artist in the industry. He plans to keep his sound unique and continue to build the successful path he sees ahead for his music career.

With Dre-B’s dedication, discipline and drive behind his music – he has written numerous songs and is working on his next mixtape, “SUGAR COAT FREE”.“Right now, my favorite song is called ‘Hard Livin’,” says Dre-B. “It’s from the heart and talks about being at the bottom and overcoming every obstacle in the way.” Dre-B dedicated ‘Hard Livin’ to his loved ones who are locked up and who are shinning down from heaven. Dre-B is also a part of an entertainment group called InYaFaceENT. This group not only promotes various events in the CTX area, they also help promote and motivate Dre-B in different aspects. Their movement as one plans to do great things. Other than music, Dre-B is a father and a friend. He enjoys playing pool, basketball, hanging outdoors and spending time with his daughters.

Dre-B hopes to see himself touring nationwide in the next five years and hearing his music on different radio stations. Eventually, being a major name in the industry.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

DRE-B: I was born in Killeen, Texas. I lived there until the age of 2, then was sent to live with my grandparents on my fathers side in a small town in northwest Georgia called Summerville. I lived there until the age of 13, at which I returned back to Killeen, Texas to live with my mother. I’ve been here ever since and I’m 27 currently.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background? 

DRE-B: My music background, I would say, is dominantly hip-hop/rap music. I come from urban background in black communities. So even the music that I make is touched on that genre, but I listen to wide spread of music because I love music. Music is the food for soul.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music? 

DRE-B: I want to record and release my own music because I feel that I have a gift in the music lane of life. I believe that I have a way of painting a vivid picture of my life, past and present. Just from the delivery of my words and how I speak on it and put it altogether. So I make it in hopes that my music will touch somebody somewhere in ways to make them feel good through listening moments. I also give them a sound that they can relate to. Also I do it for financial gain for my family and I.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about? 

DRE-B: My songs come from how I’m feeling at that moment. A lot of my songs touch on my past, living out of control and reckless. I touch on how I elevated my mind state to overcome all and give people something to it. I talk about things that I see on a daily and the life I choose to lead nowadays. I’ll also keep up with the trend to make the club jump and give people something to ride to, but everything that I do, say, and rap about is from the heart and its real.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

DRE-B: 2pac, Lil Boosie, T.I., and Z-Ro. I name these rappers especially because they are good storytellers. I can tell by their delivery that they have lived and gone through what they talk about. The passion behind their words are so breathtaking, that it touches me. It touches me because I can relate, and that’s the exact thing I want to be able to do with my listeners.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

DRE B: I would describe it as the absolute truth! My music is music that will grasp your attention to view my lifestyle and past life story firsthand. My music is versatile and can touch you in any mood that you are currently in.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists? 

DRE-B: I believe it’s my delivery and choice of music nowadays. I’m not following the trend to the T like so many. My vocabulary and how I put words together is different than the average.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome? 

DRE-B: It has always been two thing, finances and publicity. There have been so many lanes I have wanted to take my music to. I have wanted to put it in so many places, but the finances weren’t up to par. It runs hand in hand because sometimes without the finances you can’t expose all that you want from lack of being able to put it where the focus in at.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

DRE-B: I’m working on my new mixtape, looking to drop in the fall, called “SUGAR COAT FREE” and I named it that because everything is real. Everything I speak about is the truth, and I’m raw and uncut with it. Also I do shows, mostly in the Austin, Texas area, but overall I’m just working non-stop.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? 

DRE-B: My career goals are to be a major name in the music industry. To be financially stable from my music career so my family wants for nothing at all. In ten years I see all of that being reality!
