Hailing from Texas, Rosco Fetti brings southern sound mixed with clever wordplay to the forefront. He delivers his words with ease and confidence that makes him stand out from his counterparts. Combining thoughtful lyricism with memorable one-liners shows skills and knowledge has further propelled him to be the breakout artist of the year.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

ROSCO FETTI: I’m from Conroe, Texas. A city located just North of Houston. Although some may think that it’s actually the Northside of Houston, it really isn’t. We’re just really close to them.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

ROSCO FETTI: Well for me, it all started when I was very young. I remember hearing my dad play a little bit of everything. His musical selections included the Legendary B.B. King, Prince, Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Run DMC, L.L. Cool, The World Class Wreckin’ Crew, Bruce Springsteen and Miles Davis, just to name a few. So clearly, I was brought up listening to Hip-hop, R&B, Blues & Jazz. Then, whenever I would go to visit my Grandmother, may God rest her soul, and I’d hear her playing a lot of Gospel Music ranging from the great Shirley Caesar to the Mississippi Mass Choir. I used to play the drums whenever I would attend Church. During my leisure time I would break dance with my friends to Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Whodini and etc. Somewhere around age 12, I discovered my ability to write and rap. My friends and I would often hold freestyle sessions and try to out spit one another and it’s been with me every since. As I grew older though, I became fascinated with most music. Good music is good music to me, regardless of genre. So I believe it would be fair to say that my musical background is very wide ranged.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

ROSCO FETTI: Most of my songs deal with life. Not only my life, but the lives of those around me as well. Things that I’ve been through, witnessed, and encountered. The good, the bad and the ugly. I like to make music that people can relate to. Life is not always good, it’s not always bad either. Just as it is not always happy or sad. I like to incorporate all of those emotions and feelings into my music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?

ROSCO FETTI: I like to perform a wide range of songs. A few of my favorites though, would have to include “This Is It”, “Fall N Luv” and “Trill & Tru”. I have to perform some of my newer material, but I’m sure I’ll fall in love with those when I do. I like those songs in particular because they all display different emotions. Someone may not be feeling one way at this time, so they may not connect to a certain song. They may be feeling this way and make a connection to this song. So, that’s why I like to perform a wide range of songs.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a music career?

ROSCO FETTI: I would have to say that the thing that’s surprised me the most is how quickly some people form an almost instant connection to some of my songs. I’ve had people that were complete strangers come up to me and tell me, “Man I love that song! I can feel that. I’ve been through that”. That would definitely have to be the most surprising thing that I’ve experienced!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your musical influences?

ROSCO FETTI: My musical influences, other than Biggie and Tupac, I would say are people like Jay-Z, Yo Gotti, Nipsey Hussle, Jadakiss, Puff, and Rick Ross, just to name a few. Not that I want to sound like any of those guys or anything, but I have a great admiration for their business aspects and entrepreneurship. They work hard and that’s something that I can definitely relate to.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

ROSCO FETTI: I would describe my music to people as hip-hop alternative. Some of it has that raw hip-hop feel to it, while other songs may exhibit more of a R&B or Pop like feel. I’ve been told by several people, including industry people, that my music is different and I’m ok with that because I’m different. No two people are exactly alike. No two people will sound exactly alike. Everyone is unique and has thei own unique sound and style.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

ROSCO FETTI: I believe the thing that makes me stand out from other artists is the fact that I’m not just an artist, but I’m also a songwriter, producer, engineer. I’m also starting to get into graphics because of my love for art as a whole. I also write poetry and I can act. The acting part comes natural because in certain situations that you encounter in life you have to play a certain role. You may have to be the strong one and comfort those around you during the times that they are weak, even though you may be just as weak. I mean, you never know what life is going to throw at you, but you must be prepared to take on whatever role is necessary.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What you would to see changed in today’s music industry?

ROSCO FETTI: The things that I would like to see change in today’s music industry would probably be the way that most artists expect for someone to hand them something without them having to work for it. I want to change the way that the music seems to be getting diluted and watered down. I don’t think there are a whole lot of artists out here that are passionate about the music anymore. Most are just doing it to be doing something, not pouring as much energy and effort into it as some of us others do. But that’s just life I guess. Some are passionate about it and some aren’t.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

ROSCO FETTI: Well as of right now, I’m working on a few different projects. I’m doing a collaboration Mixtape with my crew, FettiGangOfficial, which is pretty much done and ready for release. Also, I’m working on a solo mixtape and my first album, which is about halfway through.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

ROSCO FETTI: My career goals are to be as successful as God and my work ethic allows. I want to write, produce and feature my work in every genre of music that there is, if possible. In 10 years I see myself running a successful label, as well as owning multiple businesses. I see myself putting others in a position to where they are able to be bosses and provide for them and those around them also. In ten years, I can see myself being that success story that others admire and idolize.
