IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

BOSS UP BOYZ: We are Mel and Kev of The Boss Up Boyz and we are from Philadelphia, PA.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

BOSS UP BOYZ: Kev always been inspired by music because his father was a DJ and a lot of people from his neighborhood did music, so he came up on music. For Mel, he grew up with a family full of artists. His father did Hip-Hop and his oldest brother danced and rapped, so we basically just followed our relatives’ footsteps. We became great at being a better artist.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

BOSS UP BOYZ: We want to record and release our own music because we are gifted, our music is special and we are talented. Another reason why we want to record and release our music is because it’s worth being listened to and we know if the right person hears it, they’ll love it.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

BOSS UP BOYZ: Our songs are about a lot. We talk about what we have been through, what we see and things we did in the past. Our songs are about our family, kids and our neighborhood. We also rap about politics and religion.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

BOSS UP BOYZ: Our fan base is directed towards everybody. Kids love our music and grown-ups love our music. We real versatile, when it comes to that.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

BOSS UP BOYZ: Our musical influences are Biggie, Nas and Jay-z. We grew up on other artist we like, for instance, Meek Mill.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

BOSS UP BOYZ: We describe our music as touching, different from others. We have a different style and our music is special.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

BOSS UP BOYZ: What makes us stand out from other artists is that we sound like ourselves.  We make different types of music and we make real songs. We don’t just only rap. Kev sings and we actually good workers in the studio. We pay attention, we give good points and also listen to other peoples’ points. See some people just come to the studio to make a song; we come to work, make songs and learn new things.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

BOSS UP BOYZ: One of our major projects we’re working on right now is an EP that we named NP2DAPound. We called it that because I, B.u.b Mel, am from the North Philadelphia section of PA and B.u.b Kev is from the Germantown section of PA. We basically introducing ourselves and showing you a different side from the both of us.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

BOSS UP BOYZ: Our career goals are to be as successful as we can and to win Grammys and become the best duo group ever. We see ourselves as music icons for other young artists to look up too; we see ourselves as legends in 10 years.
