The Lion King releases a new song from its special album titled “Spirit,” sung by Beyonce Knowles-Carter, who voices Nala in the upcoming film. Director Jon Favreau is back with his second Disney classic adaptation following The Jungle Book with the retelling of the beloved 1994 animated classic. The project boasts a star-studded cast of characters led by Donald Glover voicing Simba, John Oliver as Zazu, Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Scar, and John Kani voices Rafiki. Meanwhile, the legendary James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa.
With the original movie featuring such a memorable soundtrack, it’s no secret that fans are excited to hear the music of Favreau’s new take on the story and find out how fares with its predecessor. Hans Zimmer, who returns to score the contemporary adaptation, teamed up with Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice providing original songs such as “The Circle of Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and of course, the pleasantly contagious “Hakuna Matata.” Aside from being fan-favorites, these songs are also critically-acclaimed, winning several accolades during that year. Considering this, many are looking forward to new songs from The Lion King‘s soundtrack, especially with musicians like Beyonce and Glover (who also goes by Childish Gambino) involved.
